Many of you will have spoken to Lyn, our Domestic Services Ops Manager, who manages our team of drain Unblockers. Lyn has been with Drain Surgeons for over 3 years now, so is very familiar with the range of drainage problems that can arise.

For those of you who have yet to meet Lyn, and would like to put a face to the name, here she is, hard at work.

Lyn keeps these dedicated guys on the straight and narrow, ensuring they get to your site as quickly as possible.

Australian Trunk Sewer Line Partnership

Drain Surgeons has formed an alliance with a well known and reputable Australian company to further their success in exploration of large diameter sewer lines using Laser, Sonar and CCTV.

This equipment has proven popular with the local authorities who now have accurate and very specific information with regards to corrosion and silt levels in the lines. Incorporating this information into their tender process provides them with a significant advantage.

It is predicted the Drain Surgeons presence in Australia will continue to grow, due to their increasingly renowned expertise in surveying large bore sewer lines.

The New Vacuum Loading Truck Arrives

Drain Surgeons welcomes the newest addition to their fleet, direct from Drain Surgeons engineering workshop in Pukekohe.

Designed for NZ conditions, this high spec unit is purpose built for heavy cleaning and hydro excavation. It will soon be heading south to our Christchurch branch for work on the earthquake recovery programme.

Drain Surgeons are proud to announce the launch of their new division, Underground Vision Ltd. After discovering the potential for JD7 technology, this new company has been set up to provide a proactive approach to managing the fresh water mains infrastructure in New Zealand and the Pacific.

JD7 is a specialised technology provider focused on pipeline assessments and inspection solutions. They have pioneered a non disruptive pressurised water main CCTV condition assessment technology for the fresh water market.

Underground Vision Ltd has purchased the full range of JD7 equipment. It is our vision to have JD7 adopted as a necessary investment for operating a proactive asset management programme on all mains waterline systems throughout the region. Another Addition To Our Fleet – New Vacuum Loading Unit.

Due to our ongoing commitment to keeping things ‘Kiwi Made’, the latest addition to our vacuum loading fleet is currently being manufactured in Auckland. This unit has been designed and manufactured by a local engineering company. Once complete this unit has been specifically designed to undertake the following:

• Hydro excavation
• Heavy cleaning for large bore pipes
• Vacuum loading deep wet wells

Cat Rescue in Christchurch

During our ongoing works in the Christchurch region, our team was called upon late one night to assist in the rescue of a cat that had managed to squeeze into an underground drainage pipe and become stuck. Using CCTV equipment, we located the family pet and proceeded to undertake it’s careful removal, to the welcome relief of all involved.

Sales & Business Development Manager

We would like to introduce Tania Glover, our new Sales and Business Development Manager. Tania joined Drain Surgeons late last year, she has had many years experience with a waste management company. Health & Safety Manager

Due to our continued growth and the ongoing commitment to Health & Safety, we have appointed a dedicated H&S Manager. Alistair Sisson is certified at OSH Level 3 and has been instrumental in the ACC partnership programme requirements, bringing our organisation from no rating to a secondary ACC accreditation. During this time Alistair has implemented numerous hazard identification systems and safe working practices. Alistair can be contacted on alistair@drainsurgeons.co.nz

Latest addition to the flushing fleet – the 400L per minute ‘Mack Flushing Unit’. Custom built for heavy cleaning. This has been recently operating in Wellington & Christchurch.

ACC accredited

Drain Surgeons is pleased to announce that on the 2nd of February 2012 we achieved Secondary Accreditation with ACC in the WSMP (Workplace Safety Management Practices) programme. This audit is based on NZ standard 4801 and investigates how well a company manages its health and safety programme (systems) and injury prevention.

We are dedicated to continually improving health and safety within our company.

Fiji Contract

Drain Surgeons has recently completed the first stage of works for the Water Authority Fiji (WAF). This contract brings headline news to Fiji’s major television and newspaper network.

B400 Flushing Unit

Latest addition to the flushing fleet – the 400L per minute ‘Mack Flushing Unit’. Custom built for heavy cleaning. This has been recently operating in Wellington & Christchurch.

Christchurch AMI Stadium

Our B400 has been working with CCTV inspection units inside AMI stadium, to help with the assessment of the damage to the stadiums infrastructure.

Christchurch ‘Red Zone’ works also continuing. Drain Surgeons have been involved with surveying the damaged sewer and storm water networks within the central city, prior to building demolition.

Fiji

A current project has Drain Surgeons in Suva, working for the Fijian Government. “We have supplied them with advanced hi tech CCTV equipment and hydro blasting units, built to their specifications, along with our own operators to train and implement long term training programmes”.

“The contract was won on our industry experience and capability to deliver on time, to specification.”

Auckland City Commendation

Drain Surgeons were recently awarded a CCTV contract with Auckland City council, which involved a complicated set up procedure involving tidal man-holes. During the course of the job a Health and Safety audit was undertaken by Auckland City Council, who reviewed all our set up and procedure. We are proud to announce as result of this audit our Site Safety Supervisor, Todd Symes (TJ) was awarded the 1st ever commendation issued by Auckland City, commending him and Drain Surgeons Ltd for maintaining a high standard of safety throughout the duration of the job.

Christchurch office

Drain Surgeons has recently established a depot in Kaiapoi, servicing the Christchurch area, undertaking the flushing, vacuum loading & CCTV of the earthquake damaged infrastructure. Introducing ‘state of the art’ laser, sonar and high definition CCTV profiling systems, giving the Christchurch Engineers informed decisions for pipe rehabilitation and pipe integrity.
